Ian C Stewart "Star****er" MP3

This sour little ditty was written in late 1992. The lyrics were based on a personal experience I had when I worked at TicketMonster. I noticed that my own popularity went up if/when my band happened to be playing a gig. And if the gig was a big deal, I was more popular with certain ladies. Which was nice when it was on but not so nice afterwards because.... well, they just weren't around anymore. I thought that the experience would probably be an ongoing theme in my life. I mean, I assumed that fame & fortune would naturally follow at some point. & therefore too the star'love'ers.

I dig this song. Though, when I see the title 'Starf*cker', I automatically think of the song of the same title by The Murmurs.

I ran across a CD of MP3s made in 2004 with the Samarkand White album on it, though, this version had 15 songs.

The CD also contained a folder called goth riffs 2004.

I was a sucky keyboard player. Good think none of that was recorded for prosterity. :-P But the concept was cool.

Heh... there's also a folder called Samarkand 2004 on it. I think I might be playing drums on that one. Maybe. There were two takes of 'Bloomer', and one take of 'Down in the Valley' and 'Eye'.

Starfucker is not an original concept for a song by any stretch & even in 1992 it wasn't a new idea.

Hmm, the 2004 MP3s of the goth riffs sounds it could be my demos for the still-untouched next Irreligion album. Sucky keyboarding is my hallmark.

This was the beginning of my dabbling with intentional randomness in songwriting. Until 91

Ian C Stewart "Until 91" MP3 Even though I had a girlfriend, I wrote the occasional song about other girls. "Until 91" was one such thing. It was recorded on my brand new Tascam Porta 05 4-track. That thing was my pride & joy. I used it more or less constantly until it gave up the ghost in 1992. "Until 91" adheres to the strict 4 tracks/no overdubs idea, maybe I hadn't learned how to overdub by that point. My first Casio keyboard supplied the drums. It was a PT-something. Uhhhh, clean guitar = Jaguar. Fretless bass = Michael's black Ibanez, last seen onstage with Raymond & Devilcake in 1992. I'm not sure where the funky folky vibe comes from. Satan? CORNER OF THE SKY

that's right, this tape is for HIGH ENERGY MUSIC . Ian C Stewart "Corner of the Sky" MP3 Ianeffective is most of the In Bursts stuff. "Corner of the Sky" never wound up being released despite being one of the stronger songs of the era. It went through at least two musical permutations but I guess I was still unhappy with some aspect of it in the end. Which is strange considering how enthusiastic I was at the time about "William Carlos Williams," which is a Hugo Largo ripoff for two bass guitars and um unique vocal performance. ? Exactly. I think "Corner of the Sky," even at the time, felt like a blatant homage/parody of the Cure. Like, too blatant to be comfortable with, maybe. I don't remember.
